In the chapter, " A proposition a bit unseemly" , (13 season) Artie Ziff - Marge suitor in adolescence - is in his office surrounded by works of art from the most varied styles and all with a common theme: Marge Simpson.

The easily recognizable picture is one of many "Marilyn" work of Andy Warhol . As framegrabs does not show well, I take the liberty of re-draw:

Andy Warhol was an artist and filmmaker who played a crucial role in the birth and development of Pop Art .

When Marilyn Monroe committed suicide in August 1962, with an overdose of barbiturates Warhol began producing a series of silk screens using as a single photograph. The photograph was taken by Gene Korman , Falls to promote the movie that was starring the actress.

blog In Argentina "Workspace" found an interesting article "Quote and ownership: a background in art history in which critical Marilyn harshly of Warhol: " This work reflects two phenomena: firstly, the procedure to derive the work art starts to become more common in contemporary art, and other artists some impunity regarding the use of copyrighted material. "

Warhol , dedicated many works to Marilyn Monroe, but not thinking of her as a sex symbol, but as part of a series on death.

"Marilyn Diptych" is the first book on Marilyn, and is, above all, to express the passage from life to death with the same image. On the left, Marilyn appears beautiful and sensual and on the right, the absence color, the presence of black and fading of the image advertised his disappearance. (World History) Warhol, Marilyn's photo used in over fifty portraits including a series of serigraphs titled Icons , in which used a mechanical application silkscreen on canvas that can multiply series.

Many new artists have been influenced for this work of Warhol in particular, using it as a basis to recreate their own proposals:
