The February 12, 1814 was recorded in history Venezuela as the day when an army of young people, many of them almost kids, untrained and with rifle in hand, had to leave the battlefield to stop the advancing forces of Boves.

although there were less (the royalists had 2,500 troops) could more effort and courage of the youth who eventually won, supported by Vicente Campo Elias, who arrived at the last minute with a reinforcement of 220 soldiers. As a tribute to this heroic deed, is held every February 12 Youth Day.
